Our head office is located in San Isidro de Níjar, where you can find the Selection and Packaging Warehouse with 15,000 m2 of warehouse space and 10,000 m3 of cold storage rooms, with a central room of 6,000 m2 used to pack our organic varieties.
The work is organised in production lines, specifically we have 10 automated and technified lines to achieve a greater comfort for the workers and to minimise the physical load, we have two robotic arms that can move about a thousand boxes per hour, one of them with the capacity to tip and depalletise up to 500 boxes.
The first of these lines is dedicated to packing roasted tomatoes, mainly ADORA and RUBI tomatoes. It has one of the only three machines in Spain for calibrating and selecting tomatoes by size, Brix degrees and colour using infrared technology, which enables us to analyse our tomatoes one by one, thus guaranteeing the sweetness of varieties such as ADORA and RUBI to the consumer.
Lines 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are multi-purpose packaging lines which enable us to produce any product with a stem such as Cherry Rama or Tomate Rama. Line 8 specialises in packing Cherry Angelle tomatoes, which are sold loose; this line has a calibration system installed (capable of analysing the tomato by diameter and colour at a rate of 30 pieces per second) and automated container filling, with a capacity of 120 tubs per minute. On this same line there is a robotic arm with the capacity to move around a thousand crates per hour.
Although we are mainly specialists in tomatoes, we also have production lines specialising in cucumber, courgette, aubergine, watermelon and melon.
We have technified the quality department with a tablet and a customised programme that allows us to see the different batches and their characteristics in real time, thus facilitating the work of this department while optimising and reducing complaints.
Thanks to the chain work and the automation of processes, Biosabor’s central plant can pack up to 400,000 tubs of vegetables per day.
The Handling and Packaging Warehouse, being a recently created centre, has been designed with the wellbeing of the workers and energy sustainability in mind.
This is why, throughout the year, the warehouse has a stable temperature (between 18º and 23º) and humidity; this is thanks to a forced ventilation system that allows us to continuously renew the air.
