The company Biosabor has been GRASP (Risk Assessment in Social Practices) certified since 2014. It is a voluntary module that accompanies the GLOBAL G.A.P. Certification, for the evaluation of agricultural practices. Thanks to the GRASP certification, we have ensured that we meet the minimum requirements for good social management in primary production, in addition to having established good social practices in our facilities and taking care of our
employees and collaborators. In addition, we regularly conduct SMETA (Ethical Trade Audit) assessments that reinforce our work for workers’ well-being and our respect for human rights.
Furthermore, in 2016 we decided to carry out our first Ethical Trade Audit following the guidelines designated by the SEDEX organization, which offers working tools to improve the business practices of responsibility and ethics in the global supply chain.
SMETA relies on the ETI Code (Ethical Trading Initiative) to develop the scheme. So, like the ILO conventions, it assesses the following 9 issues: whether there is freedom to choose employment, whether freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining are respected, whether working conditions are safe and hygienic, whether or not child labour is employed, whether a living wage is paid, whether the hours of work are excessive, whether regular work is provided, and whether or not inhuman or severe treatment is permitted.
