Organic Production
Organic farming can be simply defined as a compendium of agricultural techniques that normally excludes the use of synthetic chemicals such as fertilizers, pesticides or antibiotics in agriculture, with the aim of preserving the environment, maintaining or increasing soil fertility, and providing all-natural properties to the foods we eat.
Organic farming has been legally regulated in Spain since 1989, when the Regulation of the Generic Denomination “Organic Agriculture” was approved.
Organic production is currently regulated by Council Regulation (EC) 834/2007 on the production and labelling of organic products, which has been in force since 1 January 2009.
